“Homecoming” is the newest photo series in continuation with my project on rural Kansas, “GrassLands.”
The project is an ongoing documentation of my home state, with a concentration in NE Kansas. Many of the photographs I’ve taken so far are in a county an hour south of Topeka, where I grew up. It’s a county situated on a vast expanse of open prairie. Some residents have generations of ranching in their past and some are city dwellers who have opted for a quieter lifestyle. I have been moved by the warmth and openness of all of the people that I have met so far, especially those who have helped me with this project along the way. This project was started as exploration of the human condition in rural Kansas and of myself.
